About the GACE Marketing (6–12) (716)
Here’s what you need to know before you register.
The GACE Marketing (6–12) exam is for individuals seeking admission to an educator preparation program, initial certification in Georgia, or qualification to teach marketing education in Georgia secondary schools. It is administered through Evaluation Systems of Pearson on behalf of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).
The exam is made up of five testlets, which you can take together in one session or separately. Testlets 227 (Marketing Foundations) and 229 (The Marketing Mix) are your largest, each with 30 questions and a 45-minute time limit. Testlets 228 (Business Concepts and Skills for Marketing) and 502 (Technology, Economics, and Career Development) each have 20 questions and a 30-minute time limit. Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) has 30 questions and a 45-minute time limit. Combined, all five testlets total 130 questions in 3 hours and 15 minutes — the longest content exam of its kind.
Fees differ by testlet: Testlets 227, 228, 229, and 502 each cost $31.50 individually, while Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) costs $43.00. All five testlets together cost $169.00. Plan for extra time beyond the testing minutes themselves: add 15 minutes per testing session for a tutorial and to complete a nondisclosure agreement.
Two of the five testlets aren’t marketing-specific: Testlet 502 (Technology, Economics, and Career Development) and Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) also appear on GACE Business (715). If you’ve already passed either testlet through the Business exam, verify whether you have credit toward the Marketing exam before registering. The exam is delivered entirely by computer in a selected-response (multiple-choice) format. No reference materials are provided for any of the five testlets.
To pass, you need a cumulative score of 220 or higher, and you must also meet the floor — the minimum required score — for each individual testlet. To register, create a GaPSC MyPSC account at mypsc.gapsc.org, then create an Evaluation Systems GACE testing account at gace.es.pearson.com.

How to Prepare for the GACE Marketing (6–12) (716)
Here are some tips to help you get ready for each testlet.
- With five testlets and 130 total questions, this is the longest GACE content exam of its kind — plan your prep timeline accordingly. Give yourself enough runway to cover marketing fundamentals, business skills, the marketing mix, and two shared testlets rather than cramming everything into the final weeks.
- Testlets 227 and 229 are your largest at 30 questions each — prioritize your study time accordingly. Together they make up nearly half the total questions on the exam, so strong command of marketing fundamentals and the marketing mix carries the most weight toward your cumulative score.
- If you’ve already taken GACE Business (715), check your testlet credit before registering. Testlets 502 and 501 are identical across both exams. Passing them once through Business means you don’t need to pay for or retake them for Marketing.
- For Testlet 229 (The Marketing Mix), practice classifying decisions into the correct P. Exam questions often describe a marketing decision and ask whether it belongs to product, price, place, or promotion — practice this classification skill directly using real business examples.
- Because no calculator is provided, practice pricing and financial calculations by hand. Both Testlet 229 (pricing strategies) and Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) involve numerical reasoning you’ll need to work through without assistance.
- Use the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education as your primary content reference. The Georgia standards for marketing education tell you what depth of content is expected at the secondary level, and they’re the standard the GACE Marketing exam is built around.
