About the GACE Business (6–12) (715)
Here’s what you need to know before you register.
The GACE Business (6–12) exam is for individuals seeking admission to an educator preparation program, initial certification in Georgia, or qualification to teach business education in Georgia secondary schools. It is administered through Evaluation Systems of Pearson on behalf of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).
The exam is made up of five testlets, which you can take together in one session or separately. Testlets 224 (Business Foundations) and 502 (Technology, Economics, and Career Development) each have 20 questions and a 30-minute time limit. Testlets 225 (Business Management) and 226 (Financial Analysis) each have 25 questions and a 30-minute time limit. Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) is the largest, with 30 questions and a 45-minute time limit. Combined, all five testlets total 120 questions in 2 hours and 45 minutes — more total questions than most other GACE secondary content exams.
Fees differ by testlet: Testlets 224, 225, 226, and 502 each cost $31.50 individually, while Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) costs $43.00 — it’s a shared testlet that also appears on other GACE assessments, including GACE Mathematics (711) and GACE Economics (719). All five testlets together cost $169.00. Plan for extra time beyond the testing minutes themselves: add 15 minutes per testing session for a tutorial and to complete a nondisclosure agreement.
The exam is delivered entirely by computer in a selected-response (multiple-choice) format. No reference materials are provided — you won’t have access to a calculator, formula sheet, or any other aid during any of the five testlets, including Testlet 226 (Financial Analysis), where you might expect one.
To pass, you need a cumulative score of 220 or higher, and you must also meet the floor — the minimum required score — for each individual testlet. To register, create a GaPSC MyPSC account at mypsc.gapsc.org, then create an Evaluation Systems GACE testing account at gace.es.pearson.com.

How to Prepare for the GACE Business (6–12) (715)
Here are some tips to help you get ready for each testlet.
- With five testlets and 120 total questions, this is one of the longer GACE content exams — plan your prep timeline accordingly. Give yourself enough runway to cover four distinct content areas plus financial literacy rather than cramming everything into the final weeks before your appointment.
- Because no calculator or reference sheet is provided, practice financial calculations by hand. Testlet 226 (Financial Analysis) and Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) both involve numerical reasoning — ratio calculations, interest calculations, and financial statement analysis — that you’ll need to work through without assistance.
- Don’t treat Testlet 501 (Financial Literacy) as an afterthought just because it’s not business-specific. If you haven’t already earned credit for this testlet through another GACE assessment, dedicate real study time to it — business knowledge alone doesn’t guarantee strong performance on personal finance content like credit scores and insurance terminology.
- For Testlet 225 (Business Management), practice matching scenarios to the correct management function. Questions often describe a workplace situation and ask whether it represents planning, organizing, leading, or controlling — practice this classification skill directly.
- For Testlet 226 (Financial Analysis), be comfortable reading all three financial statements, not just one. Many candidates are more familiar with the income statement than the balance sheet or cash flow statement — make sure your preparation covers all three equally.
- Use the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education as your primary content reference. The Georgia standards for business education tell you what depth of content is expected at the secondary level, and they’re the standard the GACE Business exam is built around.
